The FACULTY Category Team
Here's how this category got from the raw community feedback (in September of last year) to the current state as goals for the next Long Range Plan:
A word of caution
As you read the goals and strategies in these categories, please keep a few things in mind:
- This is a work in progress. These are not finished documents, and should not be taken to represent the completed Long Range Plan. These goals simply represent where we currently are in the process. If an element crucial to you seems to be missing, please email the visioning team with your concerns. We're human, and we may well have missed something.
- These goals represent the distillation of months of work, and an incredible amount of information. The lists contained here are not meant to be complete, but are simply representative of greater content with which the teams are currently working. As before, if something is missing, please let us know, but please don't think we've intentionally left out something important to you. It's a work in progress, and we look forward to sharing the whole thing with you when it's complete. If you're concerned about the direction in which we're headed... Get involved!
Now, with that said...
The Goal
Developing and nourishing a complete, vibrant faculty and administrative staff, along with the programs, assessments, and structures that support them.
The Strategies
- Institute a robust ongoing Faculty Professional Development Program which includes:
- Ongoing Teacher training opportunities
- Peer mentoring
- Teacher coaching
- Hire and retain a complete Full Admin Team, including the following roles:
- Development Director (overseeing donors, capital campaign, grant writing, fundraising)
- ??? TBD
- Establish clear accountability and create ongoing assessment process for all teachers
- Institute a thorough and competitive Faculty Compensation and Benefits package, including:
- Better paid teachers than other area private schools and Waldorf Schools
- An investment person to setup/manage a CWS portfolio of teacher investments
- Hire and retain a Full Faculty, including the following roles:
- Full-time specialists, ???
- ???
- Establish a clear faculty Career Growth Path, including:
- Retirement policy/process
- Sabbatical program/policy/process
- Pilot a 9th Year position for Teachers which would do the following:
- look at and work on big picture of faculty/program needs
- do teacher development/coaching/observation
- develop curriculum, accreditation, etc.
